I woke up with the kids and got breakfast started and then went out for a run . Nothing beats staying somewhere close enough to run along the beach in the morning! I was the only one there and soaked up a little sun and jumped in the water after.
Back at the villa I helped get the kids ready and we hung out outside with the family in between getting caught up on a bunch of laundry and line-drying all of our clothes since there is no dryer. I went out with Grammy and the kids, back to the old fishing village called Marzamemi. It was a little stressful figuring out parking and how to pay without knowing a lot of Italian, but I successfully parked and got us to Marzamemi for a little outing. We did a bit of shopping and checked out the main square, but it was so hot out in the middle of the day that we didn’t stay too long. And, of course we had to take a gelato break! So we sat at the table and wrote some postcards and tried to figure out how to mail them. The outing messed up Beckett’s nap, but that’s the price you have to pay when balancing going on day trips and figuring out a toddler’s nap on vacation!
Then, we spent a long time at the pool at the villa and had a potluck dinner with our favorite type of pasta – cavatelli.
The kids were begging to go to bed at 6pm so at least that made bedtime easy tonight. This gave me a chance to catch up with Ryan and go out on the town in Noto. Thank goodness he offered to drive because I don’t think I could have parallel parked on such incredibly steep and narrow roads! It was such a great evening spending time with my brother! And the town was gorgeous, all lit up at night with perfect weather for outdoor dining and strolling around. Our first stop was Il Libertyno Bistronomia, a tapas-style restaurant where we sat outside. I got a glass of Disaronno and Ryan ordered 3 items that most certainly do not belong together – beef tartare, an espresso and a beer so I couldn’t stop making fun of him. Then we strolled around a bit more before finding another cafe for some tiramisu! I am glad we explored this town together, since Noto was on my list and it exceeded my expectations!
